Pacing Tool for ME/CFS, Long COVID, POTS
A project that helps people with these conditions understand and record their own exertion.
Vision: People affected should understand their body better without overexerting themselves. A tool for self-observation, not a diagnosis.
What mypacing offers
Pacing calculator
Instant, no login. A rough, non-binding orientation for daily activity duration from resting heart rate and symptom precursors.
Personal tracking
Heart-rate data or manual entries. Shows patterns before crashes — so you can plan rest ahead of time.
Stand test (POTS)
Guided NASA lean test. Result as a finding for your doctor's visit. No equipment needed.
Doctor's report
Exportable, printable. Includes pacing data and Bell score — a tool for clinical conversations.
Privacy & security
- GDPR Art.9 Health data only with explicit consent
- Encrypted In transit and in storage; pseudonymous from upload onwards
- Private Operated in Germany/EU (ALL-INKL). Never sold, never shared with third parties.
- Free Funded by voluntary contributions. No business model built on health data.
- Deletable Everything can be deleted at any time. Uploaded files are not kept after the analysis.
Scientific basis
- Heart-rate pacing: a medically determined value, otherwise the measured resting-heart-rate median + 15 as a rule of thumb (a Workwell Foundation rule of thumb, tested in no study — derivation on /en/technik.html)
- Post-exertional malaise (PEM): starts with a delay, usually 24 to 72 h later — visible in the HRV trend and in the check-in
- Everyday-capacity questionnaire (FUNCAP): peer-reviewed, in two versions (27 questions for tracking, 55 in full)
- No predictions: honest about limits. Build-up patterns yes, reliable forecasts no.
Devices & integration
- Available: Garmin, Apple Health, Whoop, ResMed CPAP, Visible (automatic); Fitbit, Oura, Withings, Polar (manual review)
- Not possible yet: direct account linking. Planned for Garmin, Fitbit/Google, Oura, Withings, Polar, Whoop, Suunto and COROS — with no date.
- Without a watch: daily entries by hand are enough. Your own perception is the strongest sensor.
