Setting up Health Connect: your values in one place.

On Android, Health Connect plays the role Apple Health plays on iPhone: one shared place for steps, sleep, heart values and more.

What Health Connect is

Health Connect is Android’s store for health and fitness values. Apps write values into it or read them – but only with your permission, and separately for each value. The data stays on your phone.

The advantage: a watch app does not have to connect to every other app one by one. It writes to Health Connect once, and every app with permission can read the values.

Where to find it

From Android 14, Health Connect is part of the system and lives in Settings. Exactly where differs between manufacturers; the quickest way is to search Settings for “Health Connect”. On older Android versions, Health Connect is a separate app on Google Play.

Connecting your watch and apps

You set up the connection in the app of your watch or ring: its settings usually have an item for Health Connect that lets it write values. Which values are transferred is up to the manufacturer.

If several apps report the same value – steps from both phone and watch, say – you decide in Health Connect, under the priority of data sources, which one counts. A fixed main source keeps your history calmer.

Giving mypacing access

After you sign in, mypacing asks for the individual permissions, such as steps, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate and HRV. You decide for each value separately and can change this at any time in Health Connect under app permissions.

When you first connect, mypacing reads your existing history once so your usual range has a basis from the start; after that, only the last few days. You can download the Android app directly from our Android page.

HRV explained simply
